hp wrap up header - September 12

HP Families,

As we wrap up this week at HP, this afternoon, students in PreK-5 had the opportunity to celebrate Halloween with class parties and our traditional parade. Kudos to Mr. Ward and the middle school band students for providing the outdoor spooky music.

Big thanks to the HPPD as they came to speak with all the students this week about Halloween Safety!

We hope to see everyone tomorrow at the HP 5K! Don’t forget the kiddie dash and mile run start at 9:00 am.

As a reminder, school is closed next week on Thursday and Friday, November 6th & 7th for the NJ Teachers’ Convention.

Sports News:

In sports news, the soccer team completed their season this week with an excellent game against Demarest in the playoffs despite losing 2-1. The game was back and forth all game with both teams deserving of a victory. Roy Jang scored the lone goal for the Spartans off a Ryland Del Prete assist. Mr. Lawlor would like to thank all the boys for a great season especially the 8th graders: Blaise Chiang, Brendan Pribila, Derin Buell, James Jannucci, Josh Dank, Julian Torrie, Matt Goodman, Ryan Sheldon, and Thomas Chen.

Let's give a huge round of applause to our Girls' Volleyball Team for an outstanding season! Though their run concluded last night with a tough loss against Demarest, the team truly finished their season strong. They displayed strong court play, delivered amazing serving, and showcased terrific teamwork in their final match. A special shout-out to every player for bringing incredible positive energy and commitment to the court every single day.

The girls soccer team stood their own against a tough, physical team from Bergenfield yesterday in their final game of the season. Leighton Schryver made countless big saves in the 1st half to keep us in the game, and Danica Kwon set up Olive Schryver for a game-tying goal right before halftime.  Congratulations to the girls soccer team for an impressive first season, and we look forward to watching you all play again next year — Way to make us proud, girls soccer team!!
