hp wrap up header - September 12

HP Families,

As we wrap up this week at HP, a reminder that our annual Food Drive leading up to the 100th Day of School is underway. Please see the attached flyer with the needed items.

Monday will be a special Blue & White Spirit Day to support the Girls Basketball Team as they will be playing in the Championship Game at NVOT vs Old Tappan. Come and support the team at 5:30 Monday 2/2.

Parents using the “Kiss and Go” are reminded not to exit their vehicle. This causes a tremendous backup and is a safety issue.

Next week, on Wednesday, February 4th, our Guidance Counselor will host Global Day of Play at the elementary level. As we have done in the past year, this national initiative promotes unstructured play and has been shown to boost creativity, social skills, and emotional development. It provides students with an opportunity to step away from structured classroom activities and engage with one another in a more relaxed and fun setting. See details from Guidance in this LETTER

Save the Date - 8th Grade vs Staff Have a Heart Volleyball Game - Thursday, February 12th, 3:15-4:15. This event is held in the Big Gym and raises money for the American Heart Association. Tickets will be $3 and this event is open to the entire school community!

Sports:

The Girl's Basketball Team defeated Demarest on Thursday in the second round of playoffs 58 to 35! Kami Bird scored 15 points, Quinn Hutchinson had 14, Paige Palmer had 13, Sophie Donnelly scored 9, and Eden Canarick had 6. The team had great fast break plays resulting in key layups throughout the game. The Spartans on the bench continuously supported the team by keeping the positivity and spirit up through all four quarters. The girls played a hard fought game and will play in the championship Monday, February 2nd  at 5:30pm against Old Tappan at NVOT! Go HP!

The Boys Basketball team opened the league playoffs with an exciting 45–38 victory over OT, earning a first-round win in a game that was back and forth throughout. The Spartans pulled away late in the fourth quarter behind a strong performance from Ethan State, who led all scorers with 21 points, including several key baskets down the stretch. Strong team defense and clutch free-throw shooting by Mario Bonanno helped seal the win. In the second round, the team faced a tough challenge against Closter and fell by a score of 52–29. The boys competed hard from start to finish but were ultimately overmatched by Closter’s size and skill. Congratulations to the players on a great season defined by consistent effort, sportsmanship, and pride in representing our school. Great job boys!
