hp wrap up header - September 12

HP Families,

As we wrap up this week at HP, we hope you and your family enjoyed a restful Spring Break and are ready for the final stretch of the school year. With many students feeling “spring fever,” we ask for your support by reviewing end-of-year behavior expectations with your child. A quick conversation now can go a long way in helping everyone stay focused and prepared as we head toward the finish line.

Today, our 6th graders returned from three days at Fairview Lakes. Students were definitely tired but had a fun-filled three days outdoors!

Spartan Sports & Club Corner

Yesterday, the HP track team competed in an exciting first meet against Norwood and Old Tappan. It was a fun and exciting meet, and our athletes really showed what they’re capable of with some great performances across the board. On the track, we had standout efforts from Dream Felts, Mario Bonano, Olivia Kahati-Miller, and Quinn Garrison, who all impressed in their running events. In the field events, Jason Davila had an outstanding day, taking first place in both the shot put and the discus while Amelia Rossi was a top performer in the girls shot put. We’re proud of everyone who competed and are already looking forward to our next meet against Norwood and Northvale next week.

The HP Spartans Softball Team heads into Week 3 of the regular season undefeated, holding a strong 4–0 record. The team showed impressive resilience and teamwork this week with back-to-back games on Monday and Tuesday against Demarest and Norwood. On Monday, Ava Hwang led the Spartans on the mound against Demarest, delivering an outstanding performance with 9 strikeouts. There were offensive standout hits from Olive Schryver and Quinn Hutchinson, helping secure a 20–0 victory. The momentum continued on Tuesday as the Spartans faced Norwood at home. Paige Radoian pitched a phenomenal game, recording 10 strikeouts. Behind the plate, Leighton Schryver and Hudson Jacobs worked effectively to support the defense. Offensively, the team remained strong with key contributions from Olive Schryver, Quinn Hutchinson, Paige Radoian, and Leighton Schryver. Throughout both games, the girls demonstrated heads-up baserunning, strong communication, and excellent sportsmanship, representing HP with pride. Looking ahead to next week, there are a few schedule updates: the team will host Haworth on April 29 and travel to Closter on April 30. Great work by the Spartans as they continue their undefeated season!

The Baseball Team had a competitive week with a win against Norwood and a tie against Demarest. After trailing Demarest 8-1, the Spartans roared back with 8 runs in the bottom of the fourth inning to take the lead. The game ended in a well fought 9-9 tie. Following that game the team got their first win of the season defeating Norwood 17-4. After falling behind early the Spartans fought back with patience at the plate and timely hitting from Matt Stout, Owen Davis and Ethan Strate. The team has a big week next week playing 4 games against tough competition.
