hp wrap up header - September 12

HP Families,

As we wrap up this week at HP, we want to give a warm welcome back to Ms. Urban in the Main Office. We are so very grateful and happy to have her back at HP! A big thank you to Ms. Swati Chauhan as she filled in at the main office the past few months.

Monday is special Pajama Day at HP to ease into the week from the late Superbowl festivities Sunday evening!

A huge shout-out to our Girls’ Basketball Team! Led by Ms. Paternostro, the team defeated Old Tappan Middle School in the Championship Game on Monday evening at NVOT. This is the second year the girls have won the Championship! Huge thanks to the HP staff and community for the tremendous support of fans that came out.

Parents using the “Kiss and Go” are reminded not to exit their vehicle. This causes a tremendous backup and is a safety issue. Additionally, parents need to call in or report student absences in the Parent Portal.

This week, our Guidance Counselors hosted Global Day of Play at the elementary level. As we have done in the past year, this national initiative promotes unstructured play and has been shown to boost creativity, social skills, and emotional development. It provides students with an opportunity to step away from structured classroom activities and engage with one another in a more relaxed and fun setting.

Next week on Tuesday, February 10th, the 5th Grade will host a Cardboard Carnival. Students in Prek-4 will have the opportunity to attend and play unlimited games for $3. Students can win prizes and the proceeds will go to a grade 5 charity of their choice.

Valentine’s Day will be celebrated in the younger grades on Friday, February 13th. Parents are reminded that CANDY/FOOD can not be sent in. It will not be distributed. Cards, along with small trinkets, are welcome!

Save the Date - 8th Grade vs Staff Have a Heart Volleyball Game - Thursday, February 12th, 3:15-4:15. This event is held in the Big Gym and raises money for the American Heart Association. Tickets will be $3 and this event is open to the entire school community!

The HSA is very excited to announce the highly anticipated return of the HP Talent Show, Thursday, February 26, at 6 pm in the Big Gym. First dress rehearsal is Wednesday, February 11th, right after school. There is a $10 entry for all (except for students participating in the talent show).
