hp wrap up header - September 12

HP Families,

As we wrap up this week at HP, on Wednesday evening, students in 4th & 5th Grade Band and Chorus performed for family and friends. Led by Ms. Park, Mr. Ward and Ms. Einhorn, students did a wonderful job.

Today, students in K-3 sang for proud parents and friends! Big thanks to Ms. Einhorn & Ms. Park.

As a reminder, next week, Tuesday, December 23rd, will be a half day for students and staff with a 12:45pm dismissal.

HP hosted teams from Demarest, Haworth, North Vale, Norwood, and Old Tappan this week for a Brain Busters meet. The HP teams won their matches in the first round, but unfortunately they were just a few points shy of making it to the semi-finals. Congratulations to Old Tappan who took home the trophy. We hope to bring the trophy to HP after the competition in January at Demarest in the new year.

Save the Date: Wednesday, January 7th -  Mr. Torrie will be facilitating a number of Parent Academy Sessions this winter! The First Session is titled “Thinking Critically with Every Bite." This session will overview the importance of the "why" in our community, and stabilizing blood glucose for optimal performance. Please use the link below to register. The session will take place at 7:00 pm on Wednesday, January 7th, in the HP School Library. Please see the flyer attached and complete the attendance form here.

Have a great weekend HP and a Happy & Peaceful Hanukkah to those celebrating.

Sports:

The Girls' Basketball Team had an exciting week ending with three wins to continue their undefeated run! The Spartans defeated Norwood 46 to 21 on Monday with EVERYONE on the team scoring to help secure the win. On Tuesday, the girls took on Closter and came away with a 54-32 victory. Then on Thursday, HP defeated Old Tappan in an exciting end to the week with a score of 47 to 30. The girls showed a lot of hard work, determination, and teamwork this week. The girls will continue the season after break with an away game at Northvale on 1/6.

The Boys’ Basketball Team had an action-packed week, competing in several exciting games against tough opponents. On Monday, the Spartans defeated Norwood 60–28, with 12 different players contributing to the scoring effort. On Tuesday, the boys fell to Closter in a game that remained close throughout, but Closter’s size and skill ultimately proved difficult to overcome. On Thursday, in the final game of the week, the Spartans dropped a thrilling contest to OT by a score of 43–41. The team played strong from start to finish, showcasing solid defense and timely scoring. Ethan Strait led the Spartans with 15 points. The next game will be played after the break, as the Spartans return home on January 6th to take on Northvale.
