HP Families, 

 

As we wrap up this week at HP,  December is a busy time at HP. Please take note of the winter concert times below. Students are excited to perform for their family and friends! 

As a reminder, picture retakes and group photos will take place on Tuesday, December 9th. 

Our Kind Kids are running a Holiday Drive.  Please see the attached flyer. The donation bin is located outside the main office. 

In HSA news,  the Holiday Gift Shop took place on Tuesday & Wednesday.  A huge thank you to the many parent volunteers for their coordination and assistance. 

As temperatures outside have gotten colder, please be mindful that we look to get students out for recess if the weather is above 32 degrees. We remind students to wear all outerwear items they were sent to school with and if parents can reinforce that message, it is helpful.  For the morning lineup, we also use the 32 degree mark and we always take wind chill into consideration. Thank you for your help! 

 

Arrival/ Dismissal Reminders From HPPD:

-Please ensure that your child is prepared to exit the car when you are dropping them off (their coat is on, everything is in their backpack, etc.)

-Parents can not double park on or off school grounds

-Students shouldn’t be crossing into a traffic lane to get picked up or dropped off  

-When walking on Lynn and surrounding streets, please do not walk in the center of the street as it impedes traffic

-If you are by a crosswalk, please transition away from the crosswalk as soon as possible so the crossing guards and vehicles understand who is about to cross the street

 

6th Grade TREPS Projects will be on sale on Thursday, December 11th. Students will have the opportunity to shop! Information is attached.

Sports:

 

The Girls' Basketball Team opened their season with two great wins this week! The Spartans defeated Northvale on Monday 41 to 20 and Demarest on Thursday 45 to 34. The girls played hard on both offense and defense, while displaying great teamwork and sportsmanship on the bench. Every spartan scored this week and contributed to both wins. Paige Palmer and Sophie Donnelly led the team this week with 18 points each. Kami Bird scored 10, Eden Canarick had 8, Tierney Waldron had 7, Quinn Hutchinson scored 6, Ava Hwang had 4, Ayzah Mailk had 3, Paige Radoian, Addison Beezer, Emilia Rossi, Ava Topple, Teagan Devaney, Hudson Jacobs, and Delaney Saland all scored 2 points. The girls will play again at Haworth on Monday! 

 

The boys basketball team got off to a great start winning their first two games of the season. In Monday's opener, the boys won an exciting game against a tough Northvale team by the score of 31-30. It was a close game throughout but the Spartans stayed composed and got some timely defensive stops down the stretch. The boys were led by Ethan Strate's 13 points. On Thursday, the team earned their second win beating Demarest by the score of 55-32. The boys played well on both ends of the floor from start to finish. The scoring attack on Thursday was very balanced with 13 different Spartans getting into the scoring column. Way to go boys! The team will play again next Monday (Home) after school against Haworth.
